WILDLIFE PUERTO AVENTURAS
Aware of the natural wealth that surrounds us and the importance of learning to live with it, in Puerto Aventuras we have formed a working group made up of members of the community.
The objective of this effort is to inform, educate and raise awareness about the species of wildlife that inhabit our environment, thus promoting their care and harmonious coexistence.

- Learn more about the species that are part of our ecosystem.
- Remember the shared responsibility we have to live together and promote environmental awareness for the benefit of the entire community.

🐆 Precautions against the presence of jaguars in the area
Dear community, let's remember some important steps to stay safe and protect wildlife:
🐕 Always take your dogs for a walk on a leash and avoid doing it at very night hours.
♻️ Pick up dirt from your pets. The jaguar can detect that trail and follow it to homes.
🏡 Keep your pets indoors, especially at night.
🚫 The jaguar does not attack humans, but if you see it, do not run, as it could instinctively chase you.
⚠️ Very important: DO NOT hurt him, DO NOT feed him and DO NOT try to touch him. The jaguar will take the road back to the jungle on its own.
🐍Presence of boas in Puerto Aventuras
It is important to remember that although they are not venomous, they can bite if they feel threatened.
Some have already been relocated to the jungle so they can remain quiet.
👉 Very important:
- Don't mistreat them or try to capture them.
- Do not use fumigants or methods that can cause harm.
- Doing so not only puts the species at risk, but also constitutes an environmental crime.

🐍 Presence of venomous snakes in PA
We share important information about the presence of venomous snakes in our region.
En caso de una mordedura, es fundamental acudir de inmediato a un hospital para recibir atención médica y la aplicación del antídoto correspondiente.
Les recomendamos:
- Maintain a safe distance if you see a snake
- Do not attempt to handle it or approach it
- Report any sightings so that trained personnel can safely relocate it

🐍 Presence of non-venomous snakes in PA
In Puerto Aventuras, there are species of non-venomous snakes, such as the boa and the snail-eating snake, that help maintain ecological balance by controlling populations of rodents and insects.
If you happen to see one, remember to keep your distance and report it so it can be safely relocated.
🐒 Spider Monkey (Ateles geoffroyi)
The spider monkey is an endangered species and one of the most important inhabitants of our jungles. By feeding on fruits and dispersing seeds, it contributes to the natural regeneration of the forest.
If you have the opportunity to observe them in PA: do not feed them, keep your distance, and respect the hanging bridges installed for their safe movement.

Loose dogs can chase, injure, and even cause the death of the wildlife that inhabits Puerto Aventuras.
Taking your dog on a leash is a simple action that protects our pets, wildlife, and helps to preserve the natural balance of our community.
