We continue to advance in one of the most important environmental projects for our community: the installation of the sargassum deflector barrier in Puerto Aventuras.
Last Saturday, August 29, the vessel GARDINER set sail transporting the containers that contain the sargassum barriers, marking a new stage in its journey to our destination.
According to the planned itinerary, the arrival at the port of Progreso, Yucatán, is estimated for next September 6. Once there, the corresponding customs procedures will be carried out to subsequently continue with the land transfer of the containers to Puerto Aventuras.
Preparing for its installation
In parallel to the transfer of the barrier, during the last few weeks, work has been done in coordination with SEMARNAT, the Navy Secretariat, Port Captaincy, ZOFEMAT, and the Marina of Puerto Aventuras, following up on the notices, reviews, and authorizations necessary to advance with its installation.
This prior work is essential so that, once the equipment arrives in Puerto Aventuras and the corresponding processes are completed, we can move on to the next stage of the project.
The barrier is part of the strategy we have been developing to strengthen the attention to sargassum and reduce its entry into strategic areas of our community.
Closer than ever
After the manufacturing, logistics, and coordination processes carried out over the last few months, the barrier is getting closer to Puerto Aventuras.
In the coming days we will continue to inform the community about its arrival in Progreso, the transfer process, and later, the details related to its arrival and installation in Puerto Aventuras.
We thank the entire community for their support, patience, and trust throughout this process.
We continue to move forward together for a cleaner sea and for the care of our environment.
Good Puerto 💙
